The US Army finally awarded Microsoft a $480 million deal to develop 100,000 HoloLens augmented reality headsets to the USA military branch for training and combat purposes.

Microsoft is the final winner and will get a $480 million deal to develop 100,000 HoloLens for the American military. There were many augmented reality companies such as Magic Leap but failed to beat Microsoft. The American believes in Microsoft products because it has previously sold some headsets to the military.
“Augmented reality technology will provide troops with more and better information to make decisions,” a Microsoft spokesperson wrote in an email to Bloomberg. “This new work extends our longstanding, trusted relationship with the Department of Defense to this new area.”
In fact, Augmented Reality is becoming super big business, that’s why America is heavily investing in it. According to Bloomberg, this new deal will help the US military benefits and advanced and sophisticated HoloLens for combat purpose. The HoloLens will include new inventions like the thermal sensing and night vision tech. This will help them the US Army to be more precise in training and on the battlefield.
Microsoft company recently overtook Apple to become the biggest company in the world by market cap. With their new military business deal, they will provide 2,500 units of the headset to the military branch in the next two years.
Cooperation between the US army and tech company is highly growing. In October, Google closed a $10 billion Pentagon deal to for the JEDI contract.
